What does .NBES stand for?
Nowadays, the internet is full of different malwares, that can easily sneak into a computer and damage various files. The one of them is NBES ransomware. The clearest sign of the infection with this virus is the .NBES extension, that files get after the encryption process. This virus virus belongs to the STOP(DJVU) file-encryption ransomware family, the members of which are: MKOS, LOTEP, GESD, RIGH, MERL, HETS, MSOP, ZOBM, ROTE, MBED, PEET, GROD, MOSK, TOEC, NAKW, Derp, COOT, Nols, Werd, Ndarod, Leto, Bora and RECO. In order to spread this virus, hackers use various ploys and backdoors. For example, they can easily inject the malicious code of the virus into regular files. Then they spread these files by the means of fake emails. It’s not rare, when hackers write messages as if they are representatives of a well known company, such as Amazon Logistics. These files are attached to these emails and once a victim opens this file, the device is already infected. If your device is infected with this virus, don’t try to remove NBES encryption by the renaming of files! Infected files are not stable and every modification can corrupt it permanently.
NBES ransomware encryption process.
The encryption process, that NBES ransomware proceeds, can be divided into two logical steps: the scanning of the hard drive and modifying of files. At first NBES ransomware looks for the files suitable for encryption. In the most cases, these files are all formats of documents and media files. When the files are found, NBES ransomware begins to the file structures and makes them unreadable. After it, the files have got new extension – .NBES. As these files, mostly, cannot be created once again or there are no copies of them, victims are willing to pay for their restoration. That’s why the virus also creates ransom note, that is called _readme.txt. By the means of this note hackers try to assure the user, that hackers can easily decrypt NBES files. However, they don’t do it for the most part. After getting payed they just stop all contacts with the victim. Moreover, it’s easy for them to make the situation much worse, as they can easily send to a victim another malware instead of a decryption tool. We strongly recommend you to avoid all contacts with them. For the case, if you need these files badly, we’ve prepared the detailed guide on how to remove NBES ransomware and decrypt .NBES files!
