What does .MKOS stand for?

This virus attacks definite file formats by the means of modifying of file structures and adding new extension – .MKOS. The members of this family vary from PEEK, REDL, NBES, GESD, RIGH, MERL, HETS, MSOP, ZOBM, ROTE, MBED, PEET, GROD, MOSK, TOEC, NAKW, Derp, COOT, Nols, Werd, Ndarod, Leto, to Bora and RECO ransomwares. This virus usually infects computers by the means of weaknesses in the operating system and software. For example, hackers often inject the code of MKOS ransomware into harmless files and then send it by email. When such a file is opened, the code immediately executes and since this very moment the computer is infected.
