What is NPSG?
The one of the newest threats, that can anyone possibly face, is NPSG ransomware. This virus belongs to the STOP(DJVU) file-encryption ransomware family. This family of viruses is one of the most widespread ones, and it consists of such members as REPP, BTOS, TOPI, REHA, NOSU, PORET and KODC ransomwares. In the most cases NPSG ransomware infects computers by various executable files (for example fake installators), but hackers also widely use email attachments. In this case, they inject the code of the virus into a regular and harmless file and it executes, once a victim decides to open this attachment. It happens because of various exploits and backdoors in the operating system and software. That’s why it’s important to use strong real-time antivirus protection, as it can prevent such attacks.
If the virus successfully got into the system, it begins to modify file structures and the files, in this case, get new .npsg extension. Then the virus drops the ransom note, called _readme.txt. By the means of this note criminals try to make the victims pay for the decryptor. Unfortunately, it’s the surest way to decrypt the data, but in the most cases, they don’t respond to messages, after they’ve been paid. Moreover, thay can easily make the situation much worse and send a malware instead of the decryptor. That’s why we strongly recommend you to avoid any contact with them and for this purpose we’ve prepared the detailed guide on how to remove NPSG ransomware and decrypt .npsg files without paying ransoms.
